Join Atlantis Marine World to kick off summer at the Aquarium over the 4th of July weekend with a nod to history and celebrate the history of diving by welcoming diver, Bob Rusnak who will suit up in traditional diving gear for a free dive into the Aquarium's largest exhibit - the 120,000-gallon Lost City of Atlantis Shark Tank. He will be surrounded by circling sharks, a giant loggerhead turtle, a prehistoric-looking moray eel, and many other creatures during his series of presentations, scheduled at 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm, and 3:30pm. An Aquarium educator will join him on his journey and speak to guests from the bottom of the exhibit wearing more modern gear, including a special helmet that will allow for communications with the crowd. Atlantis is extra proud to offer this program, especially on a weekend where our nation is honoring it's history.
The Aquarium will also present shallow water diving demonstrations in their Snorkel Tank throughout the day at 11:45am and 1:15pm where one lucky winner will be selected from the crowd and allowed to suit up in historic gear and dive along with the expert in each session.
There also will be plenty of hands-on fun for kids, with SCUBA mask face painting and crafts. And guests who are already SCUBA certified are eligible for a 10% Admission discount throughout the day, simply by showing their card.

HINT: you should try to get there early to get a good spot on the beach.
Now there's even more reason for families to plan the weekend around a visit to Nassau County Museum of Art. Each Sunday the museum offers a 1 pm docent-led family walk-through of the exhibition and, beginning at 1:30 pm, supervised art activities for the whole family. Special family guides of the main exhibition are available in the galleries. Family Sunday at the Museum is free with museum admission.

Visitors may shoot photos against the period backdrop of a 1931 Model A Ford. For kids, the day will feature children's theater, face painting, hands-on arts and crafts, stick-on tattoos and a huge inflated bouncer. The Arena Players will perform Lewis Carroll's children's classic, "Alice in Wonderland," at 2:00 p.m. in the Education Center and William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," comedy about the humorous aspects of love, at 7:00 p.m. in the mansion's cobblestone courtyard. An additional fee will be charged for these performances.
Picnic food (hot dogs, burgers, etc.) will be available until dark. Visitors will be given wristbands that will allow them to come back, or stay on the grounds to watch the evening fireworks across the harbor at Asharoken.
