Mom/Dad Alone Time Suggestions

My mommy alone time is listening to books on tapes while I drive.  Though I don't always have time to sit at home and read like I'd like to, I know I have time in my commute and can catch up on the latest titles! - Melissa, Plainview

I DO LOTS OF PUZZLES AND WATCH TV - Mark, Merrick

I tend to book a massage and then head to the local Starbucks or book store with a great magazine.  Of course, adding in a cappuccino and a treat.  A magazine as apposed to a book is less of a time commitment and lets you concentrate on a topic concerning yourself and let the kiddy stuff wait till you get home. - Josephine

I will start by saying that mommy time is one of the best things you can do for yourself as well as your family. If you don't feel up to par than you can't give everyone what they need. I send my daughter to her grandparents house for the weekend and I catch up on sleep and on my shows. By the time my daughter is back with me Sunday evening I am back to mommy mode and ready for whatever surprises she has in store for me. - Jayline, E. Yaphank

Take a bubblebath when he goes down for a nap.  I have one of my fave magazines and light a candle and often times play some of my fave music on the i-pod speakers. I'll also take a walk to the neighborhood grocery before his dad leaves for work. This way I get some fresh air, exercise, groceries and me time.  On the weekend, sometimes I will go out with my mother in law or girlfriends to lunch, dinner or to the spa and let Daddy have some father-son time.  Lastly, I'll go to Church on Sunday and let my son spend football Sunday with his Dad. - Anonymous Long Island Mom

When I get a free moment to my self, i take a paint brush and work on details of a sketch or painting. It helps me release emotions and clear my mind, while listening to some light music in the background. If I'm to exhausted after a long day of being a wife, mother and working mom, i ask my husband to hang out with our 7 month old son and i shut the door to my room , drink a hot cup of tea and catch up on some r & r...reading, tv show or emails. i just turn my brain off for a bit. - DML

I spend my alone time when my toddler and husband are in bed by 10pm.  After I tidy up and prepare things for the next day and take a shower, I spend my alone time on the computer, eating a special snack that I have stashed away for myself and watch my cooking shows on the TV in the background. - Lisa, West Islip
